Mini-blog series 2 — When Disney gets it wrong

hipster peter panDisney songs and movies have many lines that have entered our lexicon.  There are phrases we sing or say, often without even thinking about them.  They just roll off the tongue:

  • “A dream is a wish your heart makes.”
  • “To Infinity and Beyond.”
  • “Let it Go.”
  • “Just keep swimming.”
  • “Whistle while you work.”
  • “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”
  • “Hakuna Matata.”

I could go on.  And I will go on over the next several weeks.

It’s interesting if we stop to actually think about what we’re saying.  Some of these Disney phrases are wrong.  Some are dumb.  And some just make no sense at all.     Make no mistake.  I say these things, probably more than I should, but they are wrong in some fundamentals ways.  Over the next several weeks I will be looking at some of the iconic Disney phrases we use and talking about why they’re wrong.

P.S.  As an interesting aside, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” does not require a spell check.
